I think we went during the summer of 1969. I remember the fort and getting a little tin sheriff badge when we walked in. But I especially remember the Indian Dance show, and meeting and getting the autograph of a guy named Touch the Sky. He was so impressive to 6 year old me!

My family visited the fort back in 1972. I loved the place. The haunted house rocked. My father and raced some fast go-karts. I also remember a space needle that we rode to the top. The height freaked me out. I'm truly sad that a place that gave me such wonderful memories is shut down. Curse the passage of time.

I didn't start vacationing in Wisconsin Dells until 1987. When I arrived Fort Dells was, to me, little more than an abandoned attraction. These days The Dells is like my second home, I'm there most every weekend and for a full week in July. I greatly appreciate the Friends of Fort Dells for keeping the memory of the Fort alive. I've learned something of the history of Wisconsin Dells that I would not have otherwise known. Thank you.

I do scrapbooking. When my grandmother passed away, my mom gave me a huge RubberMaid tub full of almost 10,000 pictures. I found pictures of the one trip my grandmother took me on to Fort Dells. The dates on the pictures are July 11-12, 1966. The 335 foot tower was new then. Talk about wonderful memories!
