I have great memories of the fort. It was the best in the dells as far as I am concerned. I went their as a child growing up at home. Now that I am grown up and have children of my own I would love to take them there and show them what daddy did when he was their age. If it was still there that is. My entire family was extremely sad when it closed. The dells crossroad wasn't nearly as good as the fort. I always told my family that if I ever won the lottery that i would move to the Dells and reopen the dells just like it was back when i was a child. And would run it on donations. The dells needs to go back in years. To many waterparks and ma and pa places being bought out by large corperations. They don't care about the people all they care about is making a buck. Back when i was growing up we stayed at the same resort Old Newport for years. They new us by name, There was even a gokart tracking that the guy remebered us from year to year. He always gave a couple rides for free. You could go to the same motel in the Dells now for years and they wouldn't have a clue who you were from year to year. Very sad.

Greatest memories of my childhood are at Fort Dells. Breaks my heart every single time I drive past that corner. I would give anything to have experienced it with my son. The Dells are not the same as they used to be. All the big hotels drove out all the family run businesses and nothing is the same now.

I wanted to ask if anyone on here has more photos of the haunted house in fort dells. I have fond memories of it but the two pics on here are from it's original incarnation. When I went, the house was grey outside. You can feel free to email me any info...soriano.joshua@gmail...I literally cannot find a single photo anywhere!

My parents took my sister and I to Fort Dells when we were kids in the early 80's. We rode the space needle, the train, the old cars, and watched the gun fight to put Black Bart in jail. (We were young and a little too afraid to help.) I still have my leather purse with the little beaded indian girl on the front and the fringe on the bottom with "Fort Dells" printed across it. Good memories!! Wish I could have taken my own children to it! (Also loved Storybook Gardens.)
